In "Whisper" Monica Stewart has created an ethereal image of a young African couple who are very much in love. The woman wears a flowing white dress, and the finely muscled man nuzzles her neck and whispers in her ear. The image has been painted onto frayed linen or parchment, giving the impression of an old and fragile document. The details become faint in the lower half of the picture, the folds of the white dress disappearing. This makes the couple look ghostly; perhaps symbolizing Afro-American roots. Whatever the symbolism, this is a beautiful picture.
