Emilia Van Nest Markovich was raised in New York. She is proud to be a descendant of Dutch and Puerto Rican parents who were very supportive of her artistic endeavors. Markovich remembers spending a lot of childhood time drawing and feels she was innspried in her art through museum trips and the art books in her home.
