The story of how Edward Hopper got this painting of "High Noon" just right is wonderful. Deciding that he couldn't get the shadows quite right, Hopper mocked up a small cardboard model of the house and took it out into the sunshine at 11:50 in the morning and managed to get the shadow just right, ending at the woman's feet. This simple, yet powerful image of the Cape Cod landscape is somewhat haunting. Who is the woman and who, or what, is she waiting for? Take this lovely picture home with you and let the questions it poses haunt you.
